NIL: call for faster publication of PES questions

The Supreme Medical Council called for early implementation of the provision on the deadline for publishing the database of test questions for the National Specialty Examination. The regulations are scheduled to take effect on December 31, 2022.

Changes regarding the publication of the test question base for the PES were introduced by the Law of July 16, 2020. on amending the Act on professions of physician and dentist and certain other acts.

According to the rationale for the amendment to this law, doing specialization and the National Specialization Examination were to become more friendly to doctors. The m.in. Obligations imposed on the Director of the Center for Medical Examinations to publish a database of test questions, to prepare tests consisting of 70% of questions from the database and 30% of new questions, and to publish the substantive scope of the State Specialty Examination.

The regulations are set to take effect on December 31, 2022. In the opinion of the Supreme Medical Council, this is too distant a date, especially if one takes into account that the vast majority of the remaining provisions of this amendment to the law, for which a vacatio legis has been established, enter into force on January 1, 2022.

– Taking into account the above, the Supreme Medical Council calls for measures to be taken for the early implementation of the cited provisions of Article. 16rc. Adoption of such a solution will certainly contribute to improving the preparation of doctors and dentists for the National Specialty Examination and better standardization of the exams, while maintaining their proper level of content – we read in the communiqué of NIL.
