Antibiotic therapy in dentistry in practice

Lukasz Zadrozny, MD. dent. Bartlomiej Karas and dr. dent. Marek Rybicki – will first present cases from his practice, then take part in a discussion on antibiotics in dentistry, and finally answer questions from participants. Antibiotics are sometimes an indispensable part of dental treatment – their use can be part of the perioperative care of the patient, also concerning distant infections, as well as the treatment of diagnosed infections of various types that originate precisely in the oral cavity. Thus, there are situations in which the administration of an antibiotic to a dental patient is as justified as possible.

On the other hand, the phenomenon of antibiotic resistance is becoming a very serious public health problem. Nearly 700,000 people die each year from infections caused by antibiotic-resistant bacteria, according to a report commissioned by the UK government and the Wellcome Trust. people. Dentists are unfortunately also responsible for the phenomenon of antibiotic resistance. As the Polish Dental Society noted in its official recommendations, antibiotics in dentistry are overused, so each time before administering them to a patient, the balance of potential benefits and risks of their use should be considered.

Bartholomew Karas – Graduate of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry of Wroclaw Medical University, co-founder of the Dental Masters Group, currently the only Pole with Silver Member status of the Style Italiano Endodontics organization, lecturer at the Academy of Dentistry, member of the Polish Society of Dental Ergonomics, the Polish Endodontic Society and the European Society of Endodontology,

– lek. dent. Marek Rybicki – graduate of the Department of Dentistry of the Faculty of Medicine of the Warsaw Medical University, in 2015. defended his doctoral thesis in the field of implantoprosthetics, member of the Polish Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry (PASE), participant in courses and congresses on implantology, orthognathic surgery, treatment of facial defects and alveolar reconstruction in Poland and abroad.

In the first part, each speaker will give an individual 15-minute lecture in which he or she will present his or her clinical case with the use of antibiotics. The second part of the webinar will be a discussion of lecturers, and the third – Q session&A, during which experts will answer questions from participants.
